HS Tip #8
Managing Hidradenitis Suppurativa flare-ups is not easy. Each individual’s experience with HS symptoms is unique. Early signs include inflammation of the skin. HS flare-ups can persist for days, weeks, or even months. While managing your symptoms, avoid overexerting yourself. Prioritize your health and well-being, as stress often worsens this skin condition.
Do not squeeze flare-ups of any size, as this can cause irritation and spread infection. Clean your skin gently; scrubbing flare-ups may worsen irritation.
Follicular occlusion is a risk factor for HS. To help minimize this risk, develop a proper grooming routine. Trimming hair in affected areas or keeping the area closely shaved may reduce the likelihood of skin inflammation.
Here are four detox recommendations:
Healthy nutrition
Exercise (to promote sweating)
Drinking water (to help flush toxins)
Regular bowel movements
Detoxification is associated with removing toxins from the body and may help reduce certain HS triggers.
Lysine contributes to wound healing because it is an essential amino acid. It helps supply oxygen and nutrients to the wound and may also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
